Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Avec is invite-only — you need a code from an existing user to create an account. When you sign up and use the app, we collect:

We don't collect payment information, advertising identifiers, or browsing history outside the app.

2. How we use it

We use your information only to run the app's features:

• Creating and securing your account, and verifying your identity when you sign in
• Showing you nearby places and letting you search, save, and review them
• Letting you build outing plans, invite friends, and chat within a plan
• Sending you transactional emails (verification codes, password resets) and in-app notifications you've opted into

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

3. Location data

Avec asks for your location to show restaurants, bars, cafes, and attractions near you on the map, and to let you search a specific area. Location access is optional — if you decline, you can still browse a default city view, and you can turn access off anytime in your device's Settings.

Your coordinates are sent to Google's Places API to run these searches, and are not stored on Avec's servers beyond what's needed to complete that search.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the app, each only for the specific purpose below:

Other Avec users can see information you choose to make visible — your profile (per your privacy setting), places you've saved or visited (if public per your settings), and anything you post in a shared plan or its chat.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, saved places, reviews, and personal data are permanently deleted. Messages you sent in a shared plan chat may remain visible to other plan members, since they're part of a shared conversation, in the same way a text message thread would.

6. Your controls

• Edit or remove your info — update your profile, bio, and photo anytime from Settings
• Control notifications — choose what you're notified about in Settings → Notifications
• Control visibility — choose who can find your profile in Settings → Privacy
• Delete your account — Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your account and personal data; this cannot be undone

7. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access to it is restricted at the database level, so you can only read data you're authorized to see. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information.

8. Children's privacy

Avec is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since Avec is a small, invite-only app, we'll also let existing users know directly if a change materially affects how their information is handled.
